This project investigates the transparency and sustainability of coffee beans sold in supermarkets. Coffee is one of the most globally traded agricultural commodities, yet information available to consumers about its origin, certifications, and environmental impact varies widely. By collecting structured, comparable data directly from retail shelves, this project aims to evaluate how clearly and consistently sustainability information is communicated at the point of purchase.

Data is gathered through field observations in multiple supermarkets, using a standardized form to ensure consistency across entries. For each coffee package, contributors record the supermarket location, brand, price per kilogram, stated country or countries of origin, sustainability‑related certifications, packaging material, and a photo of the product. These variables were selected because they represent the most visible and consumer‑accessible indicators of supply‑chain transparency and environmental responsibility.
