This is assessment in using indigenous knowledge weather forecasting indicators in any region in Uganda. The study seeks to confirm the use of reliable indigenous knowledge indicators that can be taken on together with those used by science to improve weather predictability for enhanced agricultural production as well as mitigating the adverse effects of climate change.
1.2 Overall Study objective:
The overall objective of this assessment is to to enhance weather and climate forecasting accuracy and resilience by integrating Indigenous and scientific knowledge systems
1.2.1 Specific objectives of the Study:
The study has specific objectives as below;
1. To document the IK weather forecasting indicators used by communities
2. To identify the commonly used IK weather forecasting indicators;
3. To establish the perceptions of the local communities on the reliability of Indigenous Knowledge and scientific predictions in order to identify the gaps and the needs for improvement.
4. To develop a hybrid forecasting model that integrates both knowledge systems;
